Hi guys! Maybe you have already seen that I spent a week on a beautiful Island called Flores. Its a one hour flight away from Bali, the flight itself is stunning because you fly over all these tiny islands surrounded by turquoise water. Our flight stopped in Labuan Bajo, which is the biggest „town“ and harbor in Flores and the place you start all your boat trips from. We didn’t get off the plane because our first adventure was a volcano hike so we had to fly to Ende, which is in the middle of the island. From Ende we took a 2 hour road trip which actually took us 4 hours because we stopped every 5 minutes to take pictures. The ride through the island to that little village was just amazing.. Huge ricefields, rivers, bridges, views.. well, just have a look at the pictures. (:
Tiago traveled with us, he is a videographer and we are currently working on a youtube video. During the roadtrip he flew his drone over the van we where driving with. Check the drone shot to see what was written on the roof of the van!
VULCANO HIKE
Our final stop was a little village surrounded by hills called Moni. We spent the night there at a little homestay owned by the cutest Indonesian couple. Next day we got up at 4am to see the sunrise at the Kelimutu, a vulcano with lakes that changes the colors. Next day we flew to Labuan Bajo and checked in at the Le Pirate Beachclub. I would definitely recommend to stay there if you travel to Flores. Labuan Bajo itself is not really pretty.. There is a view point called „love hill“ which is worth a visit but thats it. So we just slept there and hung around at the Le Pirate Beachclub and did boat trips every day. First day we went to Kanawa Island. We all got a little sunburn I definitely underestimated the sun out there. Next day it was raining all day so so we recovered from our sunburns and did a working day at the Le Pirate Beachclub.
FLORES BOAT TRIP WITH LE PIRATE EXPLORER
Le Pirate Beachclub also offers boat trips with their Boat Le Pirate Explorer. There are 4 little Cabins on the Boat and the price includes the food and everything. I can tell you if you ever go to Flores you have to do that boat trip, it was amazing. Melina and me did a 2 nights 3 days trip. We stopped each day at another more breathtaking island, went to the best snorekling spots and we saw turtles and manta rays. The boat also stopped at the Rinca island to do a hike and see the Komodo Dragons, we weren’t the biggest fans of these dragons though.. It was a bit like a tourist trap, really expensive and not worth it. The time on the boat itself was very relaxing, we had no wifi the whole time so we did a little digital detox. We got to know the other people that were also on the boat were very well, we had a really good time with them and of course with the crew. All in all I had an amazing week if you ever are in Bali a little longer you have to do that trip as well!
